How to test ads and adblocker behavior

Testing Ads (Game Manger)

In the Game Manager, you get test ads. These are placeholder ads to test implementation. To do this, start the game through the "Builds" and trigger an ad in-game.

Note: some adblockers even breaks the test ads, preventing any part of the ad code to initialize.


Testing Ads (Production)

When testing ads on a release track or a game site on released builds, you will get real ads (assuming the domain is a Pley domain or approved for ads). There you can test ad UX.


Adblockers

There are many adblockers, each one using different methods to prevent ads. This is a reality of web gaming.

  • Ad blocker prevents the ad script completely, causing the "Failed to show ad" screen. Players are prompted to wait 15 seconds, and then claim their reward.
  • Pley detects an adblocker. "Ad blocker detected" screen. Players are prompted to disable their adblocker to get access to rewarded ads.
