How to set up Conversions API for User Acqusition?

The best way to get going with user acquisition ads campaigns for your web game is to integrate with Meta's conversion API. Begin acquiring users on the web on a Pley Gamesite with minimal set-up.

This requires a Facebook Business Account.

How to set up Conversion API in the Game Manager

Prerequisite: Set up a Facebook Business Account and access the Ads Manager.

  1. In your Pley Game Manager project, go to Capabilities > Conversion API
  2. Check "Enable Facebook conversion API".
  3. Add the Pixel ID (sometimes called a "Dataset ID". Found in the dataset settings).
  4. Generate and add an Access Token in the Facebook Ad Manager dataset settings.

How to set up a dataset in Facebook Ad Manager

  1. Navigate to Ad Manager (in https://business.facebook.com/)
  2. Navigate to "Events Manager".
  3. "+ Connect Data" > "Connect a new data source": Web > Create a new dataset.
  4. Find the Dataset ID and generate the Access token under "Settings" (see above).

You do not need to set up any conversion API Gateway. Everything is built into the Pley Gamesite. You only need to create the dataset (to receive the data) and fetch the ID/Access token for the Game Manager (to direct data to your dataset).

How to test events with Conversion API

Once the Pixel ID and Access token is configured in the Game Manager, you can make sure your setup works by inputting your Gamesite domain URL in the "Test events" tab in Facebook Ad Manager.

  1. Click "Test Events."
  2. Input the website URL and press "Test Events".
  3. Go to your gamesite and trigger events. If everything works as intended, they should appear in the Ad Manager after a few seconds.
