Always free with Pleysites.

Pleysites are gamesites provided by Pley. Using our user research and data, we continously optimize our Pleysites to maximise engagement, conversion, and retention. All tips and guidelines in this article is automatically provided for you if you use a Pley site - free of charge.

However, if you are using your own website for your web game, this article applies. We highly recommend following these guidelines for maximum rate of success for launching your mobile game on the web.

General Guidelines

  • Gamesites function similarly to Apple/Google marketplace pages but are fully customizable. Take advantage of the freedom and customize the page to suit your player base.
  • Load in the Web Playable as soon as possible on the main landing page, decreasing perceived load time and churn. This isn't possible for first-time visitors if you do not support guest sessions.

Web Playable

  • If possible, start the game in fullscreen mode when the user clicks it the first time. This majorly decreases churn during loading.

Login system & Guest Sessions

  • Out-of-the-box, Pley comes with Pley's login. If you use it, you'll automatically get the front end, account settings, and guest sessions right in the playable.
  • If you use your login system, you have to integrate it and supply the user experience. Read more about the technical implementation here.
  • Decide if you will support guest sessions. It is good if the player can test the game before going through a sign-up flow. If so, the game should be startable without being logged in.

Features

  • PWA (Progressive web app) is a great way to retain players. At an appropriate time, prompt them. Pley would be happy to help set up PWA for you.
  • Display engaging offers, events, leaderboards, email lists, and other interactive elements to engage the user.

Content

  • As the main visual, a video is the best way to grab the user's attention.
  • Have at least 800 words for SEO purposes. Research the best SEO terms for your game to grow with organic search engine traffic.
  • Guides, wikis, and gameplay-related content are the best ways to engage gamesite visitors. It also points to the depth of the game.
  • Blog posts and articles with dates show the user that the game is alive and well-supported.

Examples

If possible, default to opening the game in full-screen mode when clicked the first time. This puts the player in the right mindset to play games, not browse the web.
